The Hunter Region Leads the Energy Transition
The first few months of 2025 have been eventful and action-packed.
Our client’s wind farm project, the Upper Hunter Energy Park, keeps us busy as we aim for financial close by the end of the year. Meanwhile, industry announcements and events demonstrate the progress made and innovations achieved in the renewable energy sector. These are exciting times, and we are happy to play our humble part in them.

The Hunter’s Energy Transition
The Hunter Region’s potential for the energy transition is experiencing a surge, and YZ’s goal is to support this e-evolution by accelerating renewable energy projects and supporting the renewables industry. This is why YZ is excited to be a sponsor of the upcoming Hunter New Energy Symposium, which will take place at the Newcastle City Hall on May 21 & 22.
The symposium focuses on topics such as the Hunter’s energy future, investments in research & development, resulting innovations, the creation of a highly skilled workforce, and social license granted by local communities.
The Upper Hunter Energy Park
Speaking of the Hunter leading the energy transition, here is an update on our client’s wind farm project, the Upper Hunter Energy Park. We started our community engagement activities with a letter drop, sharing the latest project updates with the neighbours. We finalised the 30% Civil Design for the project area, informing various upcoming work streams. The next step will be to submit the REF to Ausgrid for a Part 5 Approval with an improved power line route and design. We keep working towards our goal to be construction-ready by the end of 2025.
Allegro’s New Energy Storage
We all know how much the Renewable Energy Industry relies on innovative minds, pushing the boundaries and setting out on new paths towards a clean energy future. The Allegro Energy team reached a whole new level of innovation with their Microemolsion Flow Battery (MeFB). A scalable and cost-effective Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES), which is not only fully recyclable but built domestically with locally sourced components. The YZ Team was thrilled to attend the unveiling of this exciting new technology last week, which will be implemented at the Eraring Power Station.
