Hello from YZ Consulting – December 2023

2023 has been an amazing year for YZ Consulting – not only because Tanja joined us – but because we were lucky enough to contribute to exciting projects, collaborate with brilliant people, and be inspired by the progress possible in the renewable energy sector.

Whether it was helping our clients go through a rebrand and relaunch of their absolutely inspiring companies, progress and develop much-anticipated windfarms in our backyard that is the Hunter

Region, or ensure that solar installations are built to spec and produce the much-needed clean energy: we are immensely grateful to have been part of these projects.

Here is a brief recap on COP 28 and Outlook on 2024 for YZ Consulting:

• Concluding 2023, which was taken up by the renewable energy topic (comes with the job), COP28 came, went, and left us a new agreement which foresees “transitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly, and equitable manner, accelerating action in this critical decade, so as to achieve net zero by 2050 in keeping with the science”. Sounds vaguely positive; however, the action items to achieve this goal are very ambiguous. Yes, “tripling renewable energy capacity globally and doubling the global average annual rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030” is on the agenda; however, will this be enough?
• In light of the COP28 outcome, YZ Consulting will leave the talk to others and continue to walk the walk in 2024, focusing on tangible actions in support of our clients’ projects and educating on renewable energy as one of the ways to prevent catastrophic climate events.
