The Project
Bruce Energy approached YZ with the determination to grow and professionalise the business, diversify the client base and achieve related personal goals. YZ has worked with the founder Barney Bruce and his growing team at Bruce Energy from early 2021 onwards, helping them reach their objectives through business development and market expansion.
YZ’s Role
One of the key aspects of working with small engineering businesses is to understand the founding teams’ core values, drivers and ambitions. A thorough understanding and documentation of these aspects are vital to starting the business development process. This approach enabled YZ to accelerate Bruce Energy’s journey to become one of Australia’s leading engineering firms in the thermal and energy process sector.
YZ’s engagement has evolved over the years, with some of its initial tasks now being taken care of in-house by the Bruce Energy team, which has been growing over the last three years. YZ currently supports Bruce Energy on an ongoing basis, mainly in the areas of strategy and business development.
The Outcome
YZ supported Bruce Energy by acquiring the business’s ISO90001 Quality Management Certification, strengthening the company branding and launching a new company website, hiring four engineers, one administrative personnel and multiple contractors, and developing case studies showcasing the firm’s capabilities. These steps allowed YZ to secure contracts for Bruce Energy with reputable Australian energy start-ups such as MGA Thermal, Rux Energy and Green Gravity.
